Women Whalers

The Eden Football Club changing room door crashes open, a small girl wearing a red Whalers footy vest bounds out giggling. She is followed by her mother and newborn baby sister, who have stepped outside to sit on the bench and feed in the warmth of the mid-winter sun.

For decades the club rooms have been home to the mens team. Today, however, at least for the next few hours,The Whalers, Eden’s first all women’s football team, occupy the space. Photo Essay for The Eden Magnet, Bega District News and Canberra Times, August 2, 2018.
